What to Expect in CWP in 2012-13
Current World Problems (CWP) focuses on preparing students to be active participants in our democratic society. Students in this class will explore a variety of current issues and engage in a variety of learning processes to enhance their understanding of the world they live and to enhance their ability to actively engage in understanding issues, discussing issues, and making decisions about those issues. Students will also be responsible for engaging in independent studies about issues that they are interested in or concerned about. Finally, in CWP, the students will learn how to read and write for success in the college classroom and the work place.
Topics of study this year will be determined in conjunction with the students. However, as this is an election year, we will spend the beginning of the year looking at the election and its many ramifications for the students and for our country.
