  • Mt. Adams SD's Nancy Fiander wins Champion for Children Award!


    Nancy was awarded the third annual Champion for Children award at the 2017 Student Support Conference on May 11th, 2017.  She was recognized because of her over 35 years of dedication to vulnerable and underserved youth.  Nancy began her work as a school nurse, and about 10 years ago became involved in a community coalition that addresses youth substance abuse prevention.  She works with the White Swan DreamMakers to promote health, wellbeing, and prevention.  She leads with knowledge that students need safe, supportive environments before they can be attentive to learning.  Nancy wears many hats and advocates for all children in the district with focus on social-emotional health and learning to reduce risk factors, build resiliency, and enable a positive learning environment.  Nancy received 8 nominations for this award, from friends and colleagues to external partners.  Thank you, Nancy, for your outstanding commitment to the culture and commitment to the culture and climate for students and staff an the Mt. Adams community.
